Visiting Scholars

1. Jinsoo Han
Dr. Jinsoo Han is an Associate Professor in the School of Hotel Management, at Kyung Hee University, South Korea. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from March 2004 to February 2005. He is a distinguished educator as well as a researcher. He has supervised over 100 students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interests include: Hotel Financial Management, Tourism Technology, Marketing, Convention and Casino Management, etc.

2. Xiaorong He
Dr. Xiaorong He is an associate professor in the Department of Tourism, at Hunan Normal University, Hunan, China. He visited the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research (CHTR) in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration (HRAD) at Oklahoma State University as a visiting scholar from August 2007 to February 2008. His research interests include: Strategic Management of Tourism Corporation, Tourism Industry Cluster and Tourists’ Leisure Behavior.

3. Yong-ki Lee
Dr. Yong-ki Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration, at Chungju National University, South Korea. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from December 2002 to December 2004.  His research interests include marketing, strategic management, human resource management and service quality.

4. Jie Li

Dr. Jie Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism Management,
School of Management, at Xian Jiaotong University, China. She has extensive
experiences in teaching, research and consulting works in the field of tourism in
China. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from January 2005 to September 2005.
Her research interests include Tourism Economics and Tourism Satellite Account,
Eco-tourism and the Rural Poverty Alleviation,etc.

5. Aijing Liu

Aijing Liu is a Lecturer in the Business School, at Shangdong University, Weihai, China. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from July 2007 to July 2008. Her teaching interests include: Tourism Marketing, Tourism Economics and Leisure Studies. Her research interests include: Marketing and Leisure Behaviors of Tourists.

6. Xiang Wei

Xiang Wei is a Lecturer in the School of Hotel Management, at Beijing International Studies University, China. He is the Vice Director of the school’s tourism and leisure economy research center. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from March to July, 2008. His research interests include: Leisure Economy, Mathematic Economy and Strategic Management of Tourism Corporation.

7. Yuping Xie
Yuping Xie is an Associate Professor in the Tourism Administration Department, at Guilin Institute of Tourism, China. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from January 2002 to January 2003. Her research interests include: Hotel Management, Marketing, Culture Tourism and Tourism Education.

8. Hanqin Zhang

Hanqin Qiu Zhang is an Associate Professor of international tourism. She received her BA (Hons) from Nankai University in Mainland China, her MA degree from University of Waterloo in Canada, and her PhD from University of Strathclyde in UK. She has been teaching China tourism related subjects at both undergraduate and graduate level. Her research interests are tourism studies, consumer behaviour, and China hotel and tourism development and policy issues. She is a Certified Hospitality Educator and also a member of Council of Hotel and Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE) and a member of Asia Pacific Tourism Association.
She has served as guest editors for International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Journal of Vacation Marketing on Special Issues for China Hotel and Tourism Development. She is also the regional editor for International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. She has published more than 30 journal articles in major international journals (e.g. Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Journal of Vacation marketing) and presented about 30 research papers at international conferences.
Dr. Zhang has been actively involved in consulting and executive training programs in China. She has coordinated various training projects for World Tourism Organization, China Hotel Association, China Travel Hotel Management Services HK Ltd, Guangzhou Hotel Association, Beijing Creatist Human Resources Services Co. Ltd and so on. In 2000 she worked for World Tourism Organisation as a consultant to develop tourism master plan for Yunnan province. She was once again appointed by WTO to develop tourism master plan for Heilongjiang province in China in 2002.

9. Yan Zhang

Yan Zhang is a Lecturer in the Tourism Program, at Fudan University, China, with a specialty in Industry Economy and Convention and Meeting Management. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from July to August, 2008. She is also the coordinator of Shanghai Forum Organizing Committee, Fudan University. Her research interests include: Tourism Economy, Convention and Exhibition Economy and Convention and Special Events Management.

10. Yujuan Zhang

Dr. Yujuan Zhang is a Vice General Manager and Senior Accountant in Anhui Research Institute of International Trade, Anhui DaFeng International Trade Co. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from January 2007 to March 2008. Her research interests include: Strategic Management, International Trade and Tourism Economy.


11. Dr. Ling Zhang


Dr. Ling Zhang is an Associate Professor from the School of Tourism Management, Guangdong University of Business Studies, China. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from December 2008 to June 2009. She has been teaching courses including Introduction of Tourism and Tourism Planning. Her research interests include urban tourism, MICE tourism and spring tourism. Dr. Zhang likes the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research very much because everybody in the center is very nice, and they offered her many help. The most important thing is that she learned a lot of knowledge on research methods. She will miss the center very much when she return to China.


12. Dr. Xinyuan (Roy) Zhao


Dr. Xinyuan (Roy) Zhao visited the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research (CHTR), in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration (HRAD) in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at Oklahoma State University (OSU) in 2009. Zhao obtained his Ph.D. in Hospitality Management from the Pennsylvania State University in 2006 and has worked as an associate professor at South China University of Technology since 2006. As a post-doctoral scholar, he refined his research and teaching skills with the support from in the CHTR and HRAD. While working at OSU, he continued work-family conflict research in the hospitality industry and taught Cost Control course for undergraduate students. His experience at CHTR and HRAD will become a valuable asset for his life-long career development. Finally, Stillwater is a very quiet place and the people are very nice. Roy liked being here very much!


13. Dr. Meiyun Li


Dr. Meiyun Li is an Associate Professor in the School of Business and Assistant Director of China Center for Service Sector Research, at Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar since September 2009. Her teaching interests include Tourism Economic, Tourism Planning, Tourism Attraction Management and Service Management. Her areas of research focused primarily on Tourism Economic, Industry Convergence and Service Management. Dr. Li has a wonderful campus living experience in OSU, and benefits a lot from the pleasant, stress-free academic environment provided by the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research and the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration.


14. Ying Qu


Ying Qu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Tourism Management at Nankai University, China. She visited OSU as a visiting doctoral student from January 2010 to January 2011. Her research interests are tourism destination positioning, tourism destination image and tourism destination branding.


15. Zhenpeng Luo


Zhenpeng Luo, Associate Professor and Director of the Hotel Management section in the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management, at Institute of Tourism, Beijing Union University. He got his master’s degree in International Service Management from London Metropolitan University and CHN University, the Netherlands. He is now a PhD student at University of Stavanger, Norway. His research interests include leadership theories, service marketing, marketing research and forecast. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from January to July 2010.


16. Jianying Dong


Jianying Dong is an associate professor in the Department of Tourism Management at the History and Culture Institute of Shanxi University, China. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from March 2010 to March 2011. Her teaching interests include Economics, Tourism Economics Study and her research interests include tourism demand, consumer behavior and cultural heritage tourism.


17. Hua Quan


Dr. Hua Quan is a Professor in the School of International Business Administration, Shanghai University of Finance & Economics. He received his PhD from the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.

His research interests are ecotourism, tourism planning and tourism attraction. He has published 9 books and more than 80 journal articles in major journals (e.g. Acta Geographica Sinica (SCI), Acta Ecologica Sinica). He was in charge of or took part in more than 20 funded projects. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from Aug. 2010 to Jan. 2011.


18. Qian Xu


Qian Xu is a Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Culture Industry at Chengdu University. She is also the Deputy Director of Chengdu Tourism Industry Promotion Center. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from Aug 2010 to Feb 2011. Her research interests are: Hospitality and Tourism Strategic Management, Hospitality and Tourism Training, and Agri-tourism.


19. Yongtao Pan


Yongtao Pan, the Lecturer and Director of Department of International Travel Management in the College of Tourism, Qingdao University. He is now a Ph.D. Candidate at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from August 2010 to August 2011. His research interests are in Tourism Business Administration, Tourism Marketing, and Service Management. The courses he has taught are Travel Service Administration, Tour Guide Business, and Tourism Corporations Administration, etc.


20. Baoheng (Bowen) WANG


Baoheng (Bowen) WANG is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management in the School of Management at Xiamen University, Fujian, China. He visited the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research (CHTR) in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration (HRAD) at Oklahoma State University from Jan 2011 to Jan 2012. His research interests mainly focus on service quality control, destination marketing and cruise management. As a visiting scholar, Wang deeply involved himself into the academic activities at OSU. During h is one year visiting life, he polished his research methods and academic spirit with the support from the CHTR and HRAD. He treasures his time at OSU, and really appreciates the assistances received from so many warmhearted, experienced, and thoughtful people. After leaving OSU, Bowen has not only achieved his academic development, but also has had a great friendship and happy memories at OSU.


21. Xudong Li


Xudong Li is an associate professor in the School of Tourism at Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences, Chongqing, China. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from March 2011 to March 2012. She is a program leader and is working on a three-year Chinese government funded research project about Integrated Urban-rural Tourism. Her teaching interests include are: Tourism Psychology, Consumer Behavior and Festival Management. Her research interests focus on integrated tourism, rural tourism, and social networks.


22. Abdullah Tanrisevdi


Dr. Abdullah Tanrisevdi is an Assistant Professor in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, at Adnan Menderes University, Turkey. He visited Oklahoma State University (OSU) - Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research (CHTR) as a visiting scholar from June to October 2011. During his visiting, he continued his research entitled “Cross Cultural Research on Special Interest Travelers: Cases from State of Oklahoma (USA) and Aegean Region (TURKEY)”. Thanks to the databases and resources provided by CHTR and OSU. His research interests include tourism marketing, consumer behavior, and special interest tourism.


23. Adnan Turksoy


Dr. Adnan Turksoy is an Associate Professor in Cesme School of Tourism and Hotel Management at Ege University, Turkey, of which he has been vice director since 2009. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from March 2011 to August 2011. His researches mainly focus on managerila accounting and food & beverage management.


24. Yingzhi Guo

Yingzhi Guo is a professor and supervisor for graduate students in the Department of Tourism at Fudan University, Shanghai, China. She is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Oklahoma State University. The scholarship is certificated by J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in Washington D.C. of USA and sponsored by the US Department of State (2011-2012).

Dr. Guo held a Ph.D. from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999 and was a Post Doctorate Fellow of Business Management in Tourism Marketing at Fudan University from 1999 to 2001. Dr. Guo has been a visiting scholar in Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management at Sejong University, South Korea; a visiting professor in Tourism Economics & Marketing Institute, Dresden University of Technology and, Department of Leisure and Tourism Management, Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, Germany.

Dr. Guo has been actively involved in research in Tourism Development and Marketing.  She has led in some key research programs such as "International Tourism Marketing about Shanghai World Expo", "China Outbound Tourism Positioning Market", "Tourist Market Demand the Sustainable Development of Chinese Tourism and Co-ordination System", "Tourism Master Development Planning in Chinese Local Areas" respectively sponsored by China National Tourism Administration, Shanghai Tourism Administration and other provinces, cities and towns in Mainland China, etc.

Dr. Guo has actively participated in domestic and international seminars and conferences and published at academic journals such as "Tourism Management" (SSCI), "Journal of Travel Research" (SSCI), "Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research", "Journal on Hospitality and Tourism", "International Journal on Hospitality and Tourism Management", "Tourism Sciences" (in Chinese), and "Tourism Tribune" (in Chinese). Here are some titles of the articles that she published such as "A Study on the Positioning of China Outbound Tourism Market", "A Study on Potential Tourism Market for 2010 Shanghai World Expo", "In Introduction to MICE industry in China", "A Trend on the Future Tourism Consumption in China", "Development Strategies of Tourism Industry for the Western Areas in China", "A Study on Outbound Tourism Market by Mainland Chinese Pleasure Travelers", and "A Study on the Tourism Market Features and Marketing Policies of the Famous Historic & Cultural City in China", etc.


25. Jianyao Li


Dr. Jianyao Li visited OSU as a visiting scholar from October 2011 to January 2012. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hospitality Management at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in China and Executive Director of SYSU-OSU 2+2 program in hospitality management. He holds a BA and MBA degree in hotel management and a PhD in marketing. Dr. Li has worked for some major international hotel chains in the US and Australia before joining academic field. His main research areas include destination marketing and e-commerce in hospitality. Dr. Li has published a number of referred conference papers and his work has also appeared in international journals such as International Marketing Review, European Journal of Marketing and Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics.


26. Jing Yang


Jing Yang is a PhD candidate in the Department of Tourism Management, School of Management, at Xiamen University, China. She visited OSU as a joint PhD student from August 2011 to February 2012. Her research interests are the tourism experience,tourist behavior and tourism enterprises marketing.


27. Osman Nuri Ozdogan


Dr. Osman Nuri Ozdogan is an Assistant Professor in the School of Tourism and Hotel Management at Adnan Menderes University, Turkey. He visited OSU as a visiting scholar from July to October 2012. His research interests are tourism studies, food & beverage management, food safety and financial management in hotel businesses.


28. Tianming (Tim) Gao


Dr. Tianming (Tim) Gao is the General Manger of CNPC International Hotels Management Co. Ltd. and Soltrip Travelinfo (Beijing) Company Ltd., the hospitality branch of China Oil.  He is also the founder and promoter of the Dynamic Human Resources Management Model (1995-2000),the Oriental Jasper Hotel Brand (2001-2002) ,the Sino-Internet Hotels Alliance (2003-2004), the 3-Dimensional Development Model (2005-Now), the Virtual Pan-travel Alliance (2007-Now), the E-Development Forum on China’s Travel & Tourism Industry (2009-Now), and the Convergent Development Forum on China’s Travel & Tourism Industry (2011-Now),

He studied and received three degrees in USA from 1980 to 1988. He received his BSFS Degree at the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington DC; MA Degree in Social Psychology at the College of Arts and Sciences, State University of New York at Albany; and DPA Degree at the Graduate School of Public Administration, New York University.

He started his career in hotel business in 1989 and worked his way up from the Training Manager at Shangri-La Beijing & Sheraton Guilin, Director of Human Resources at Holiday Inn & Meritus, Deputy General Manager & Acting GM at Gloria Plaza Hotel Suzhou, Group Director of Human Resources & Vice President of Development at the Gloria International Hotels Management, CEO of the Oriental Hotels Management Co. Ltd. Managing Director of the TEDA Hotels Management Co. Ltd. all the way to the President of the HNA (Hainan Airline) Hotels & Resorts.

He also serves as the Guest Professor at Purdue University, Adjunct Professor at Beijing International Studies University, Nankai University, Tianjin University of Commerce and Qiongzhou University, Special Researcher with Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is the co-author of the Strategic Management for Tourism Enterprises (ISBN 978-7-300-10974-9/F-3719), the Bonnier Hotel Management Manual, the Bluebook on China Tourism Hotels Development (ISBN 7-5032-1386-8) and the World Famous Hotel Chains: Essentials of Management (ISBN 7-5381-3334-8). He is writing a book on the Development of Modern Hotel Chains at OSU.

Dr. Gao was elected as the Vice President of China Hotel Association for two consecutive terms and has won such honors and awards as the 5-Star Diamond Award from Global Hotel Forum, the E-Tourism Promoter Award from E-Tourism Promotion Conference, the Most Professionally-spirited Award from Professional Hotel Executives, the Most Influential Person  in Hospitality Industry from Hotel Modernization, the National Model Worker Award for China Hospitality Industry from China Hotel Association and Top 30 Movers & Shakers in China Hospitality Industry from Asia Hotel Forum.


29. Yang Guo


Dr. Yang Guo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism at Fudan University. She received her Ph.D. degree from the School of Economics at Shanghai University of Finance & Economics. Her research interests are Tourism Industry Economy, Urban Tourism and Tourism Regional Cooperation. She has published two books and many journal articles in major economic journals. She was Principle Investigator or Co-investigator of ten funded projects. She visited OSU as a visiting scholar from July 2012 to August 2012.


30. Fang Liu


Dr. Fang Liu visits OSU as a visiting scholar from August 2012 to February 2013. She is an Assistant Professor in the School of Tourism Management at Hunan Normal University in China. She received her PhD from the Business School at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in China and has been a visiting staff in the Department of Technology Management, Technology University of Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Her main research areas include human resource management in tourism industry and service management.


31. Yucheng Huang


Yucheng Huang is the professor and Associate Dean in the School of Tourism and Event Management at Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, China. His research fields include hospitality service management and rural tourism. Prof. Huang visits the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University from August 2012 to July 2013. As a visiting scholar, he is conducting a research project entitled “The Impact of China’s Traditional Code of Etiquette and Market Economy upon the Predicament of Career Choices in Hospitality Service Trades”.


32. Yingli Li


Dr. Yingli Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism Management at Zhongnan University of Economics and Laws, Wuhan, China. She is a visiting scholar of the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University from August 2012 to July 2013. Her research interests are rural tourism and ecotourism economy.


33. Chunyang Wang


Dr. Chunyang Wang is an Associate Professor in the School of Management, at Wuyi University, Guangdong, China. She received her Ph.D. degree from Xiamen University China. She visited the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at OSU as a visiting scholar from August 2012 to August 2013. Her research interests include: Heritage Tourism and Tourism Marketing focus on tourist behavior.


34. Renhong Zhu


Dr. Renhong Zhu visited OSU as a visiting scholar from August 2012 to January 2013. He is an Associate Professor in strategic management and entrepreneurship in Business School at Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China. Dr. Zhu has been teaching courses of Strategic Management, New Venture Creation, and Management Communication in undergraduate, graduate, MBA and EDP programs. His major research areas include entrepreneurial team and entrepreneurial venture growth, but he has also begun to step into entrepreneurship in Tourism and Hospitality. Dr. Zhu has published a number of papers in China top tier journals, and his work has also appeared in international journals such as The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research.


35. Jing Gao


Dr. Jing Gao is an Associate Professor in the School of Industry and Business Administration, at Zhejiang International Studies University, Hangzhou, China. She received her Ph.D. degree from Nankai University, China. She visited the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at OSU as a visiting scholar from January 2013 to January 2014. Her research interests include: Tourism Destination Marketing, Destination Branding and Tourism Destination Management.


35. Ying Zhang


Dr. Ying Zhang is a Professor in the School of Management and the Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations, Minzu University of China. Her research interests are marketing and human resource management in tourism and hospitality, and tourism development and cultural heritage preservation. She is the First Prize winner of both the 4th (in 2004) and the 6th (in 2010) Teaching Competition at Minzu University of China. She has been a visiting professor in Cesar Ritz Hospitality College from 2007.07 - 2008.01, a visiting Scholar in U.C. Berkeley from 2008.08 - 2009.09 and at OSU from 2012.01 - 2013.02.
