You’ve arrived at the Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising. If you are thinking of studies in Interior Design, Fashion Design and Production or Fashion Merchandising you will find out more here!
Our Interior Design Program is nationally accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). This accreditation ensure that students receive an education that will serve them not only during their time at school, but also prepare them for future professional growth. Students enrolled in an accredited interior design program can be confident that the program meets the quality standards recognized by the profession.
Our Fashion Design and Production program is one of only 13 universities nationally endorsed by the American industry trade group, American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA).
Our Fashion Merchandising program works closely with apparel showrooms in NYC, including GIII, with retailers including Dillard’s, Kohl’s and Walmart and with many boutique entrepreneurs.
We moved into a new space in fall 2016, including a 1600 sq.foot Mixed Reality Lab and a 330 sq. foot Eye-Tracking Lab. Click here for more information on these spaces.
Design, Housing and Merchandising is proud to be the home to Interior Design artifacts reflective of multiple time periods. This collection was funded with a generous estate gift by former faculty member Dr. Leevera Pepin. The collection is being digitized and items currently available for 3D viewing and their descriptions are located at the following link, select “artifacts” and enjoy seeing Frank Lloyd Wright items in the collection. Work continues on digitizing other holdings in the collection.
