EDUCATOR SPOTLIGHT: Cheryl Lively
Cheryl Lively is serving as the Greer County Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Educator. She has been with the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service since July 2011. She has lived in Greer County for twelve years and enjoys working with the citizens of her husband’s home county. Her love for FHA/FCCLA led her to a career in Family and Consumer Sciences. The OHCE experiences she shared with her grandmother led her to an ultimate goal of being an FCS Educator.
Cheryl graduated from Broken Bow High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from East Central University. She taught high school Family and Consumer Science classes for nineteen years before joining the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service.
Cheryl Lively works with an array of patrons and presents a variety of programming. Issue teams in Greer County consist of health, finances and risky behaviors. She teaches many programs throughout the county including home food preservation, nutrition classes, healthy homes, financial matters and Co-Parenting for Resilience.
Cheryl is actively involved in Partnerships Achieving Wellness (PAW), the local Greer County Community Coalition. She currently serves as the chair of this group. Cheryl loves to partner with various agencies and individuals from PAW to provide the county eighth grade health fair, nutrition classes, school day at the fair, and various other community events.
Cheryl credits her grandmother, Katherine Flowers; and her three Home Economics teachers, Kathryn Soloman, Judy Carlisle, and Nelda Hunkapillar, for her passion for Family and Consumer Sciences. These four influential women showed Cheryl how awesome it is to #SayYestoFCS.
