North West County

The Northwest District is comprised of 17 counties highlighted above. Of the 17 counties, 11 are staffed with two educators having dual responsibilities for FCS (50% FTE) and 4-H (50% FTE). Five counties are staffed with three or more educators. Seven of the FCS Educators in the NW District also serve as County Extension Directors (CED). The District office is located in the town of Enid in Garfield County. District office staff includes:

Cindy is the NW District Program Specialist for Family Consumer Sciences (FCS), headquartered at the District Director's office in Enid. Major responsibilities include new educator orientation, leadership development, program development, visibility and reporting, time management, plan of work development and evaluation, professional development, Civil Rights compliance, and working with advisory councils and coalitions. She serves as NW District Advisor for OCES's non-profit educational partner, Oklahoma Home & Community Education (OHCE), which has nearly 1,000 members in Northwest Oklahoma. Cindy also co-facilitates the Healthy Oklahoma state-wide impact team of 50+ OCES Staff.

 

 

Community Nutrition Education Programs – Area Coordinators supervise and train paraprofessionals across a multi-county unit. Paraprofessionals, or Nutrition Education Assistants (NEAs), teach nutrition education to limited income families.

This unit covers Garfield, Kay, and Lincoln Counties. There are 4 NEA positions in the Northwest Unit. Erin is a licensed & registered dietitian.

 

 

Brenda SheikBrenda Sheik ~ PH (580) 822-3478
FTE: 75% CNEP Evaluator ~ Educator since 1986
Brenda is a member of the state CNEP team. As CNEP Evaluator, Brenda manages program evaluation including designing and implementing data collection instruments, analyzing CNEP data and preparing evaluation reports, briefings and presentations. She strengthens the evaluation capacity of CNEP staff through training on the 24-Hour Food Recall and other evaluation tools. Brenda also provides diabetes education and facilitates a diabetes support group for the Okeene Municipal Hospital in trade for CNEP Evaluator's office space, internet service and use of a copier.
