Village Human Sciences/The PETE Project

Future Students

The P★E★T★E Project

Preparing, Empowering, Transforming and Engaging

New students at OSU in the College of Human Sciences have a living learning community housing option. This community, named The PETE Project, is in suite style living on the first floor of the Village Human Sciences building. Student Academic Mentors (SAMs) live on the same floor with first year students to help mentor them through the beginning of their OSU experience.

New students at OSU majoring in a degree offered in the College of Human Sciences can apply. The PETE Project provides many experiences and creates benefits for students that can be useful well after graduation.

  • Experiences that form instant bonds
  • Guidance to help you excel academically
  • Formal leadership opportunities within the group and involvement in student organizations
  • Interactions with established campus leaders
  • Service learning and volunteering experiences
  • Encouragement and the resources to succeed at OSU

  • Instant connections and friendships within your major and academic college
  • Average participant GPA’s are more than half a point higher on a 4.0 scale than the average freshman on campus
  • Future leaders at OSU and within the College of Human Sciences
  • Confident and resourceful students

Application Process:

  • Declare a major in the College of Human Sciences
  • Complete the Residential Life housing application. The housing application opens on December 1
  • Complete The PETE Project application

The priority deadline for consideration is February 15. Students will be selected after the priority deadline and selection will be based on the quality of the student’s applications. After selection, there is an $85 program fee.
