The Center for Family Services offers three different parenting classes. Our parenting groups are based on age and include Birth to 12 months, ages 1 to 3, and ages 4 to 11. Our therapists train parents in new ways of relating to their young children and coach them in our child-friendly, state of the art facility on the campus of Oklahoma State University. Our parenting Infants class (Birth to 12 months) is a 10- week long class and will cover the following topics: - Learning to care for an infant through feeding, burping, changing diapers, etc.
- Learning how to communicate with your baby.
- How to play with your baby and provide physical stimulation through exercises designed for infants.
- Calming an upset infant.
- Finding and utilizing sources of support for parents.
- Understanding your baby’s developing personality.
Our parenting Toddlers class (ages 1-3) lasts from 10-12 weeks and will cover the following topics: - Playing with your child in a way that encourages their development.
- Learning how to properly praise and encourage your child.
- Teaching your child how to behave in social situations through coaching.
- Learning effective, but loving, discipline strategies.
- Establishing routines for your child, such as bedtime routines.
Our parenting School-Age Children class (ages 4-11) is a 12-week long class and will cover the following topics: - Expressing love to your child through play, praise, conversation, and routines.
- Learning how to effectively set limits with your child.
- Learning to discipline your child using rewards and consequences.
- Understanding the changes your child is going through as they continue to mature into unique individuals.
- Learning how to communicate at your child’s level of understanding.

- Classes last approximately 90 minutes.
- How do I sign up?
- Simply call our office at (405) 744-5058. We will ask you a few questions and you will then be contacted by your group leader to set up your appointment.
- How much do the classes cost?
- Each class session will cost $10.00 per family
- Do I have to pay for the entire course up front?
- No. Although you may pay for classes in advance if you choose, we only ask that you pay for each session you attend.
- What is a group has already started?
- No problem! Each group is “open” which means that you can join in any week and not be lost.
- What if I have children that fit both age groups?
- After your initial telephone call, our clinic supervisors will assist you in choosing the best option for your family.
