HRAD Students Receive CHIA Designation
Twenty School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration students received the Certification in Hotel Analytics (CHIA). This certification demonstrates how to analyze various types of hotel industry data and to make strategic inferences based upon that analysis. The test is based upon four core content areas: hotel industry analytical foundations, hotel math fundamentals, property level benchmarking and hotel industry performance reports.

Charles Marshall obituary
Charles “Chuck” Marshall, founder and chairman emeritus of Marshall Hotels & Resorts, died unexpectedly December 27 at age 74, following complications related to a stroke.

Marshall earned a degree from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration in the College of Human Sciences. He served on the School’s Board of Advisors for many years and received the Human Sciences Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2010.

Phi Kappa Phi initiates Hotel and Restaurant Administration Students
Five students from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration were recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline honor society. Initiated were Regan Mickle-Dittrich, Kelsie Krauter, Emma Jones, Amanda Loyd and Allison Lyon.

Admission to the Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only, which requires nomination and approval by the chapter. Juniors must have completed at least 72 credit hours and rank scholastically in the top 7.5 percent of their class. Seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10 percent of their class.
