Hospitality Days Hits New High
The School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration has just celebrated 60 years of Hospitality Days at Oklahoma State University. The annual conference, which is planned and produced by HRAD students, features a keynote speaker from the industry, a career fair, and an evening reception honoring seniors and recruiters. The main objective is to provide hospitality professionals, students and future business associates with a networking environment.

Phi Kappa Phi Initiates Hotel and Restaurant Administration Students
Three students from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration were recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective all discipline honor society. Initiated were Michael Lin and Nina Blasdell, Stillwater, Okla. and Maci Slater, Davis, Okla.

Admission to the Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only, which requires nomination and approval by the chapter. Juniors must have completed at least 72 credit hours and rank scholastically in the top 7.5 percent of their class. Seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10 percent of their class.
 
AH&LEI winners
Fourteen School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration students received the Managing Hospitality Human Resources Certification. This certification demonstrates how to manage the important human resources who provide services within a hospitality operation. Students learned how to fulfill the requirements of U.S. employment and workplace laws, and discovered the newest strategies for attracting employees, maximizing their productivity and minimizing turnover.

The Distinguished Chef Scholarship Benefit Series Presents Chef Durham
Native to Santa Fe, New Mexico, Rocky Durham began his culinary career at the age of 13, washing dishes at a French bistro. The summer job evolved into an apprenticeship with Chef Jean Jacques Alexandre of Bordeaux. Rocky studied classical French technique at Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, where he received his degree.
