The International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (I-CHRIE)
honored several College of Human Sciences alumni, graduate students, and faculty members
at the annual conference in San Francisco.
Hotel and Restaurant Administration alumnus Gabriel Gazzoli, HRAD Associate Professor
Murat Hancer, and HRAD doctorate student Yumi Park received the I-CHRIE Best Paper
Award for their work titled “Enhancing workers’ attitudes towards their jobs through
customer orientation: A structure equation modeling approach.” Gazzoli earned his
master’s degree from OSU in 2007 and is currently the Hospitality Instructor at César
Ritz Colleges in Switzerland.
HRAD alumna Li Miao received the Best Paper Award for her piece “Consumer responses
to behaviors of other consumers in service encounter: A script theoretical perspective.”
Miao completed her master’s degree in Hospitality Administration in 2002. She is currently
an Assistant Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University.
HRAD Assistant Professor Hugo Tang earned the W. Bradford Wiley Memorial Best Paper
of the Year Award. Cihan Cobanoglu, an HRAD alumnus, received the John Wiley and Sons
Award for Innovation in Teaching. Cobanoglu completed his master’s degree in Hospitality
Administration in 1998 and his Ph.D. in 2001. He is currently an Associate Professor
of Hospitality Information at the University of Delaware.
