Lindsay Acree

Lindsay Acree is a third generation alumni legacy member of OSU, so it wasn’t a question of where she would go to college, but she had never really decided what she wanted to study. After her freshman year, Acree decided to take part in the Disney College Program in Orlando, Florida. It was there that she found her passion for hospitality and discovered the Hotel & Restaurant Administration major (now the Hospitality & Tourism Management degree) at OSU. The Hospitality & Tourism Management degree is perfect because the options are limitless. Acree found the freedom in this major that she had searched for in other majors. Courses range from hotel operations to restaurant operations to event planning to wine tasting, and every professor is experienced in the industry. “I had four previous majors (ranging from Broadcasting & Journalism to Human Development & Family Science), but I instantly knew that this program was where I belonged,” said Acree. “The faculty and staff truly care for every student, and this entire department is a family. I have loved every moment of my studies, and I have learned more about the entire hospitality industry than I had ever imagined.” Acree has had the opportunity to work on events such as Wine Forum of Oklahoma and the Distinguished Chef Event Series, and she has also been able to travel and take part in two additional internships with Walt Disney World. Through hands on experience and research, she believes she has been greatly prepared for her career and is excited to see where she is able to go with her Hospitality & Tourism Management degree.
