Program Highlights
The Master of Science Degree Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy at Oklahoma State University is the only Marriage and Family Therapy program in the state of Oklahoma accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

During the past 7 years:
100% of alumni have passed the national LMFT exam on the first try.
100% of alumni have passed the Oklahoma oral exam on the first try.
Small cohort sizes (averaging 8 students per year) allow faculty to provide individualized attention in fostering the development of students’ research and clinical skills.
Students typically receive over 200 hours of supervision before graduation.
Around half of students’ 500 clinical hours are conducted in Center for Family Services (the state-of-the-art, on-campus clinic) enabling students to receive high quality supervision and training.
Students conduct the other half of their clinical hours in a community agency, enabling them to gain unique experience with various populations and clinical issues.
"I am so happy to have chosen OSU. I whole heatedly believe the program prepared me to be a very strong clinician and also prepared me to be successful in my doctoral program. I knew I wanted to get a PhD and the support and guidance I received from the faculty as I was making that decision was invaluable! I highly recommend the OSU MFT program!"Martha Morgan, 2006 Graduate Current Faculty Member at Alliant University
“The OSU MFT program is a place where as people we are continuously encouraged to become the best version of ourselves, so we can become the best therapists we can be for our clients.”Carola Pena Pozo, 2012 Graduate from Bolivia Fulbright student
“The MFT faculty are challenging, yet caring, which provides a welcoming environment for student development and growth. From the day of the interview, it was clear that the faculty truly cared and enjoyed each other, their students and the program. This has become increasingly evident, as I have moved through the program.”
Heather Warfield 2012 Graduate from Missouri
“The coursework in the OSU MFT master’s program sufficiently prepares students to enter a doctoral program. Students are taught the value of research in clinical work. Even for students not intending to pursue doctoral degrees, students understand that the best clinicians also have an understanding and appreciation for research. All students have the option to complete a thesis project, and are encouraged to do so if they have any interest of pursuing further study.”
Jonathan Wilson, 2010 Graduate Doctoral Student East Carolina University
