Donate your Soles4Souls

The College of Human Sciences’ Student Council is launching a service project to provide shoes for the less fortunate. Human Sciences' Student Council has partnered with the Soles4Souls organization to set up shoe donation boxes around Stillwater.

Soles4Souls distributes 55 percent of the donated shoes here in the United States, and the rest are sent to more than 127 different countries around the world. All styles from athletic shoes to heels and flip flops, and even half pairs are accepted by the organization.

Local donations can be made at Elizabeth’s, Browns Shoe Fit Company, Payless Shoes, Flynnagin’s, The Summit Company, The Coffee House, and 101 Human Sciences on the OSU Campus. Donations are distributed to people living in extreme poverty and those recovering from natural disasters.

AN INVITATION

Pistol Pete and the Human Sciences Student Council invite you to take a look at your closet to find new or gently worn shoes to donate to a very worthy cause, Soles4Souls.  Ask your friends, neighbors and colleagues to do the same.
What is Soles4Souls? A shoe charity recycling shoes for people in need. October 1-26, a competition is being held among several of our Human Sciences student organizations (at least one club per academic unit is competing) and among the residents on floors in Village Human Sciences (our Living Learning Community).

What can you do? We encourage you to bring shoes and donate them to the club(s) OR Village Human Sciences floor(s) of your choice. Help your chosen team win the competition. The club and Village Human Sciences floor that collects the most shoes will each win $150 to be used at their discretion and one representative from the winning team/floor will be invited to the Human Sciences Homecoming Alumni Awards Luncheon to be recognized.

Why Shoes? This project focuses on the safety and health of children, men, and women. Click on this link to learn more about why shoes are vital to people throughout the U.S. and the world:  http://www.soles4souls.org

Want to donate? Bring new or gently worn shoes to a specific participating club OR deliver them to 101 Human Sciences.

15,968,485 shoes have been distributed to people in need by Soles4Souls. Join Human Sciences to help more people who need shoes!
