Six College of Human Sciences students selected as OSU Seniors of Significance

Six College of Human Sciences students have been selected as Oklahoma State University Seniors of Significance for the 2011-2012 academic year by the OSU Alumni Association.

Jonathan Keith Chandler, Laura Fritze, Kelsey Hanebaum, Brandon Gregory Highfill, Morgan Kinsey and Lauren Oseland have been selected as OSU Seniors of Significance, which recognizes students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to campus and community and have brought distinction to OSU.

"This group represents approximately one percent of the senior class and OSU's best with their involvement in numerous service and leadership organizations," says Larry Shell, OSU Alumni Association president. "We are honored to recognize them for their achievements and support them as they prepare to join the OSU alumni family."



Jonathan Keith Chandler is a hotel and restaurant administration major from Lee's Summit, Mo. During his time at OSU, Chandler has maintained a 4.0 GPA, was awarded the College of Human Sciences Senior of Excellence award and his fraternity won Homecoming Sweepstakes during his junior year.



Laura Fritze is a nutritional sciences and pre-med major from Andover, Kan. During her time at OSU, Fritze has been a member of Mortar Board and the Kappa Alpha Theta Executive Board.  She has been on the President's Honor Roll every semester, and she has organized service projects to benefit elderly Stillwater citizens in partnership with Stillwater Public Library and Grace Assisted Living Center. 



Kelsey Hanebaum is an interior design major from Oklahoma City. During her time at OSU, Hanebaum has been a Mortar Board member, a Top Ten Freshman, Homecoming director for her sorority and a Freshman Research Scholar.



Brandon Gregory Highfill is a hotel and restaurant management major from Enid, Okla. During his time at OSU, Highfill has been a member of Mortar Board, Phi Upsilon Omicron and the OSU Homecoming Royalty Court. He was a Camp Cowboy counselor and is president of his fraternity.



Morgan Kinsey is a human nutrition and allied health major from Stillwater, Okla. During her time at OSU, Kinsey presented at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research in Missoula, Mont., and volunteered as a YoungLife leader for high school girls in Stillwater. She served as the community service chair for the Blue Key Honor Society and she will be traveling to Sierra Leone over winter break to do a Wentz research project about Vitamin A deficiency. 



Lauren Oseland is a human development and family science major from Edmond, Okla. During her time at OSU, Oseland has been named a College of Human Sciences Outstanding Student and a Lew Wentz Research Scholar. She is the College of Human Sciences Student Council President, and she participated in an international study and internship experience in Kenya.

A public reception to recognize the 40 Seniors of Significance Award winners will be held on November 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center in Stillwater, Okla.
