Alumni FriendsInvolvement Opportunities

Throughout the year, there are various events that are of interest to the College of Human Sciences alumni and friends.  Here is a sample of such events.

CoHS Leadership Launch

Held annually in August, CoHS Leadership Launch is a leadership skills-building event for student members of Human Sciences’ Student Council, Ambassadors, and Freshman Scholar Leaders.  Participants engage in a variety of activities such as ice breakers, physical activities and guest speakers to grow and enhance their skills in team building, networking, self-awareness and communication.  The event is organized by student club advisors.  Contact person: Laura Price (

CoHS Freshman Reading Program

As a way to enhance the first-year experience for incoming freshmen, the College has a reading program that facilitates vital connections for students.  Freshmen receive the book during summer enrollment, and community members and OSU faculty and staff lead small group discussions with the students during the second week of the fall semester to discuss the book and issues that are important to them.  Contact person: Dr. Shiretta Ownbey (

CoHS Homecoming Celebration

Once a year, on the Friday before Homecoming, CoHS alumni gather to celebrate those who graduated 25 and 50 years ago.  In addition, a luncheon is held which recognizes College alumni award recipients.  Contact person: Judi Horn (
