DHM students study consumers in London study abroad program
Fifteen Design, Housing and Merchandising students journeyed to London for two weeks in July 2017 as part of a class studying consumer research. The students learned about consumer issues related to their majors of apparel design and production, fashion merchandising, and interior design by visiting sites in and around London and conducting intensive field research during each class session. Students also explored emerging career opportunities which will enable them to focus their remaining undergraduate studies in areas like buying, commercial interior design, product development, trend analysis, forecasting, styling, visual merchandising, sustainability, lighting design, and other areas. The opportunity to recognize and appreciate the differences between consumers in different cultures had a great impact on each student’s learning and experiences during the trip.
