EDUCATOR SPOTLIGHT: Cynthia Klumpp

Cynthia Klumpp serves as the Family Consumer Sciences and 4-H & Youth Development Educator in Logan County. She has worked for the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service for a total of 16 years, having previously served in Oklahoma County as the 4-H Educator.
Cynthia works closely with a variety of audiences and provides a wide range of educational programming to meet the needs of the communities in Logan County. OCES program efforts in Logan County focus on the issues of Health, Fitness, and Job Skills preparation.
One of my favorite programs has been Yoga for Kids. Working with the pubic schools and YMCA after-school land summer programs, I have been able to reach over 300 students with the Yoga for Kids programming. I love interacting with the students and helping to learn about the importance of daily exercise, staying hydrated and eating more fruits and vegetables. Yoga has been a fun way to get kids moving and staying active.

The 4-H Food Showdown contest has become one of my favorite 4-H activities. It provides a wonderful venue for students to learn life skills that will prepare them as adults. Students not only use their abilities to communicate, teamwork, and planning and organizational skills, but also are able to incorporate creativity into their recipes. Students learn about nutrition, safety in the kitchen, and presentation skills.
