REAL CommUNIty: A UNIfied UNIversity for U 'N I

The REAL (Relationships, Engagement, Advocacy, and Learning) CommUNIty is a student-led organization for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and OSU students, staff, and faculty. Our goal is to provide places and spaces for individuals with and without IDD to get to know each other, form meaningful friendships, and grow as people.

The REAL CommUNIty is not a program. We are a community that believes people with and without IDD benefit from being with each other. We like to hang out, learn, and have fun together. We are member-driven; as such, the opportunities offered each semester reflect the interests of the current membership and vary from year to year.  Current opportunities to get involved include Next Chapter Book Club and Jot It Down Writing Club. These clubs meet once a week and include a time to eat lunch together. For more information about the model we use for our Next Chapter Book Club, please visit
