CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Today’s Family and Consumer Sciences educators are qualified for employment in multiple settings. The two most common careers are secondary (grades 6-12) school instruction (FACS Education) and Cooperative Extension Service education (FCS Education). School teachers provide instruction in several disciplines within the Family and Consumer Sciences field; teachers can also provide specialized and/or occupational FCS courses. Cooperative Extension Educators offer educational programs in FCS content areas for youth and adults. Many FCS Educators work with youth organizations such as 4-H and FCCLA. With continued education beyond the baccalaureate degree, professionals may advance into areas of school administration or district and state level leadership.
