Human Development and Family Science students understand the developmental stages of humans from birth to aging adults as well as the importance of family relationships. They are caring, hard-working and service oriented. Once admitted to OSU, new students may choose one of three study options: Child and Family Services, Early Childhood Education, and Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
Child and Family ServicesAs a nationally-approved program leading to the Certified Family Life Education (CFLE) credential, Child and Family Services graduates are well prepared to provide support and service to the communities where they are employed.
Early Childhood Education
Hands-on classroom experiences and research opportunities prepare Early Childhood Education graduates to be some of the most highly sought after professionals in early childhood education.
Family and Consumer Sciences Education
Students in the Family and Consumer Sciences Education option gain interdisciplinary knowledge and skills they will apply in secondary (grades 7 – 12) schools (FACSED) or county Cooperative Extension Service (FCSES) work.
