Admission to a graduate degree program is a dual process at OSU. The faculty in the program to which you apply evaluate your application materials and make a recommendation to the Graduate College regarding admission. The final decision is made by the Graduate College.
Before you can submit an application, you will need to sign up for an on-line application account. Once you have an application account, you will be able to log in any time and see your activity log. The online application collects all required documents. There is nothing to mail to the university.
After you create an account, please review the instructions page inside the application. Academic program requirements and deadlines are built in to the application. If you have questions about program materials or deadlines, please consult your academic program.
If the GRE is required by the program you can input your test scores into the application, but you will also need to request that official scores be reported electronically to OSU (GRE institution code: 6546). No department code is required. All GRE scores are received electronically and shared with any program to which you apply.
Only after submitting an application with all required materials and paying the application fee is your application considered complete for the program faculty to review and make an admission recommendation.
Applicants should refer to both the Graduate College requirements and to the academic program’s requirements:
- The Graduate College sets admissions requirements. There you will find information about undergraduate degree requirements, English language proficiency requirements, information about the application process (including international student admission information), admission types and the on-line application.
- Program admission requirements (see links below) are typically more rigorous than the minimum requirements set by the Graduate College.
